The Juicy Salif is probably the best-known creation of Philipe Starck, the world-renowned French industrial designer.
It is a juicer made of polished aluminium, 29 cm high and 14 in diameter, and marketed by the Alessi firm. Although there are many who think that it is inspired by a spider, however, it seems that Starck made the first sketch in a restaurant after squeezing lemon from some squid.
Be it a spider or a squid, the fact is that the Juicy Salif has become, since its birth in 1990, an icon of industrial design.
