Luxury architecture on the Costa del Sol stands out for its combination of contemporary design, Mediterranean influences, high-end materials, and a harmonious integration with the natural environment. This region, which includes cities such as Marbella, Estepona, and Malaga, is famous for attracting high-net-worth buyers from around the world. The main architectural styles found in this area of the southern peninsula are as follows:
- Modern-Minimalist: This style is characterized by clean lines and geometric shapes. Facades often feature large glass windows for panoramic views of the surroundings. The interior includes open spaces in white and materials such as concrete, steel, and natural stone.
- Mediterranean-Contemporary: This building style includes tiled roofs, arches, and interior patios. It combines Andalusian tradition with modern technology. It is notable for its use of earthy colours and the incorporation of native vegetation and decorative fountains.
- Ibizan/Boho-Chic Style: The predominant colour in this type of architecture is undoubtedly white, with the use of natural wood and soft textiles. It is characterized by the creation of relaxed environments and the design of spacious terraces and infinity pools.
The Costa del Sol is a crucial enclave for this type of architecture, characterized by its privileged location very close to the sea and exclusive residential areas. These are personalized designs, with custom-designed villas conceived with special attention to the requirements of each client. The design incorporates smart technology such as advanced home automation, and the buildings’ energy efficiency is carefully considered. The interiors almost always include private leisure areas such as gyms, spas, wine cellars, and garages for classic cars. The pools are uniquely designed, standardizing the use of infinity pools, outdoor Jacuzzis, and chill-out areas.
