IDEAS COMPETITION FOR A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT ON THE COSTA DEL SOL

The houses, in semi-detached or detached typology and two floors above ground level, are immersed in the landscape, with which they are integrated, through the use of natural materials such as stone, or landscaped roofs. In this way, the visual impact is minimal, while improving interior insulation conditions and reducing energy consumption.

The proposed housing typologies adapts to the diverse needs of the users, offering the possibility of evolving, all this through the design of open spaces on the daytime floors, or with movable partitions that allow compartmentalization if necessary.

Likewise, the G&J team has made every effort to resolve the location, so that practically all the units enjoy sea views from some of their rooms.

VILLA IN LA CALA DE MIJAS, PROGRESS IN THE EXECUTION (VI)

The work on this villa has advanced quite a bit since the last time we showed it to you, in July. Remember that in the design it was a priority to preserve the maximum privacy in the facades on the areas of daily basis and open the house to the south and west, with very marked volumes and interior/exterior transition spaces.

VILLA IN LA CALA DE MIJAS, WORKS IN PROGRESS (V)

As you can see, the works on this villa are quite advanced and you can already appreciate the composition of volumes and the design planned for the facades, with more opaque planes on the front road to preserve the maximum privacy, and much more open to the south and west, with transition spaces between inside and outside through the cantilever, which create porches straddling the living room and the future open terraces.

DESIGN IDEAS COMPETITION IN RIVIERA DEL SOL, MIJAS (IV)

The creative process of the overall image starts from the horizontality that mark the slabs, in white, moving planes, undulating, which are topped with glazed parapets to improve the views, and in which the wooden inserts in pergolas and vertical planes provide a groundbreaking note and an elegant and natural touch.

Landscaping is fundamental in our proposals, the exterior design is part of the overall idea and buildings cannot be understood without their surroundings. In this case, we have paid special attention to the interior space of the “U” block, halfway between garden and courtyard.  Therefore with a different character from the rest, the proposed textures ,materials and species play an important role.

DESIGN IDEAS COMPETITION IN RIVIERA DEL SOL, MIJAS (III)

González & Jacobson Architecture proposes for this competition 6 blocks totaling 159 dwellings. Given that the user profile at which they are focused is both first and second residence, a higher percentage of 3-bedroom apartments has been chosen, up to 65% of the total, and the remaining 35% of 2-bedroom apartments. Not surprisingly, this is an area quite consolidated by buildings, which in its beginnings was a summer resort area but in recent years has come to have a significant occupancy throughout the year, thanks to its proximity to the highway, the excellent location just minutes from shopping centers and Fuengirola, as well as the existence of facilities and services nearby.

In the housing prototypes that we show you, you can appreciate the distribution of the day areas, with kitchens integrated with the living rooms, creating much larger spaces. The bedrooms are mostly open to the main facades, much more open, and all of them have closets. The master bedrooms have walk-in closets and en-suite bathrooms.

DESIGN IDEAS COMPETITION IN RIVIERA DEL SOL, MIJAS (II)

González & Jacobson Architecture proposal for this competition is developed in three phases, with 6 buildings of different sizes. Each of the phases has its own pool area and gardens, as well as road access.

The first phase has a higher building density, due to the better orographic conditions of the terrain.

The second phase frees up a wide strip of land between the buildings, where the existing watercourse and depression of the land is used to create a large garden area.

For the last phase, in the central and higher area of the plot, we have proposed a “U” shaped building with an interesting design of the central space and the main facades, more accentuated here but repeated in the rest of the buildings of the complex, as a sign of identity.

The sections show the unevenness of the terrain, to which the different blocks are adapted, and in which the pieces that our team has proposed as multipurpose rooms for the community are inserted.

DESIGN IDEAS COMPETITION IN RIVIERA DEL SOL, MIJAS (I)

New occasion for the González & Jacobson design team to develop all our creativity. This time it is a plot with irregular shape and quite a slope, but with a magnificent orientation that has allowed us to place the different residential buildings optimizing the views and sunlight.

Today we advance the first sketches, germ of what we will show you in the coming days, because the freehand drawing is still essential to shape our ideas.

DESIGN IDEAS COMPETITION FOR A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN MIJAS (V)

Last day dedicated to this Ideas Competition in which we show you the final image of the Set proposed by the design team of Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture.

We especially like the night image, with a careful lighting, which highlights the game between the glazed volumes, and the closures of terraces with lattices in horizontal frame, which are framed, and at the same time coordinate with the pergolas.

And, as we told you in our last post, the more closed access facades have continuous cladding in contrast to the stone cladding reserved for the volumes of the communication cores, all in a range of grays and whites in keeping trends.

DESIGN IDEAS COMPETITION FOR A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN MIJAS (IV)

Turn today for the layouts proposed by Gonzalez & Jacobson Architecture in the Competition for Residential Development in Mijas, on a plot of 20,000 m2 and overlooking the Mountains of Mija and the Bay of Fuengirola.

The facades facing the gardens are much more open, with large openings and terraces enclosed by glazed parapets to optimize views and sunlight. On the other hand, the access and side facades are planned to be more compact, with continuous cladding and, occasionally, cladding panels to cover the volumes destined to communication cores, all in light tones, playing on the range of grays and whites according to current trends. The complex is completed with wooden pergolas, perfect for filtering the light in summer.

IDEAS COMPETITION FOR A RESIDENTIAL DEVELOPMENT IN MIJAS (I)

The González & Jacobson Architecture studio has participated in new ideas competition for a residential development in Mijas, on a plot of more than 20,000 m2 on which we have proposed two development options that we will be showing you in the coming days.

The preliminary project is generated through a thorough study of the topography, sunlight and dominant views, which have been the determining factors for the establishment of two main platforms: the higher one overlooking the Mijas Mountains and the Bay of Fuengirola; the other, facing south, overlooking the sea. The central area between the two is destined to common spaces, green areas for recreation, swimming pools and children’s playgrounds.

We show you the diagrams and previous analysis for the understanding of the preliminary project and a schematic section where you can appreciate the slope of the land and the proposed platforms for a better orientation of the building blocks.
